The choir has been busy since the beginning of the year, preparing anthems for worship and their summer singing tour to New England in June. On Valentine's Day, 30 members gave a 45-minute program to a full house in the Amelia Room at Kendal. In addition to anthems from the fall and new ones planned for the spring, seniors Aidan Anderson, Chris Carlson, Chris Gill, Hailey Rizor and Natalie Saigh added to the beauty by offering solos they had prepared for their high school Solo and Ensemble contest. After the program, our middle school and high school singers mingled with the residents and surprised them with handmade valentines. A good time was had by all!
On March 13, the Youth Choir will present three movements from Robert Ray''s Gospel Mass during 11 AM worship. Several soloists from the choir will breathe life into the Kyrie (Lord Have Mercy), Sanctus (Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts), and Agnus Dei (Lamb of God), and keyboard, bass and drums will help sustain the integrity of this exciting work. This is a bit of a reprise of the piece, which the choir presented in worship during Lent in 2012 and took on tour to New England that summer. The singers have changed, but the spirit and soul remain, as our young people sing to the glory of God. The choir loves the Gospel Mass, and invites the congregation to share their joy of this special work.
