In worship on Sunday, November 4th, we welcomed four of our members to offer their stories of gratitude to our church family, and share how this church has impacted their faith and their life. These moving testimonies will be shared separately over the coming days, and we hope they will inspire you to reflect on the ways our church has impacted your own faith and life.
Connie and I have been members of this church since we transferred our membership in 1977. We wanted to attend church in the community where we lived and our daughter Amy attended school. Amy attended Sunday school, sang in the children’s and youth choirs, and participated in youth programs and went through the confirmation class. Connie is involved in a number of activities and programs, memorials committee, PW, Chloe Wells and the crafts group. Through the years I served on Session and a number of committees including building renovation/expansion and several search committees. I am currently very active in Men’s Bible study and Salvation Army outreach. While there was work involved with these committees and activities, we had a sense of call to serve and in so doing we witnessed and experienced the power of the Holy Spirit working within us and throughout this church. We are grateful for these opportunities.
One particular experience I would share was when we both served as Stephen Ministers. This was a blessed and privileged experience for us. Meeting with a care receiver where you listen, read a favorite scripture passage and pray is a very moving and spiritual experience I will not forget. This church is blessed to offer this on-going ministry.
Like many of you we have had some storms in our lives, some painful circumstances that cause despair, but God was with us in these situations and so was our church family for spiritual support, comfort and peace.
It is in the worship service where spiritual growth takes place. We feel truly blessed to be part of this congregation, worshiping together and we are very thankful that this church has been part of our faith journeys. Thanks to our church community, thanks to our spiritual leaders and thanks to all our music and education program leaders for being part of that journey. Connie and I have been blessed and are truly thankful to have been a part of this church for these many years where we continue our faith journeys.
Thanks be to God.
