What Might God Be Birthing?

What Might God Be Birthing?

We often say that advent is a time of waiting, of sitting in darkness, and watching for signs of Christ’s ever growing light. But I think even more so, Advent is a time for dreaming, for hoping, for re-imagining our world through God’s eyes…
It is a time to face the darkness and choose not to respond with fear, but instead ask the hopeful question… “What if?”

What if God is birthing something new here?

What if the circumstances of our life aren’t just some random occurrence…  What if this is the Holy Spirit at work even now… even in this darkness?

Advent is a time to dream with God anew…
what might it look like if God’s light were to shine even here?

The Messy Lineage of Jesus

The Messy Lineage of Jesus

See, this life of faith we lead is not about purity. Following Jesus is not about pretending everything is clean and tidy and neat. This is about how our stories are changed because of his story. And we start to see our own stories in the light of God’s goodness and grace, God’s transforming love that takes it all in.

I don’t know what your story is – your lineage, your family, your past. All I know is this: there is a place for you in the family of God. All the messiness and beauty and weakness and strength – all of it. God is redeeming it all.

From Jealousy to Joy

From Jealousy to Joy

I don’t know where you are in this season, how your life is shaping up, what your Christmas letter would look like... ...Wherever our lives are this season, let’s take some wisdom from Elizabeth and Mary. Let us rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Above all, let’s help each other search to see what God is doing here and now, in your life and in mine.
