About First Presbyterian Church of Granville

First Presbyterian Church is a vibrant, welcoming congregation located in the heart of the village of Granville.

We are an inclusive community that values diversity, where all people are valued and embraced as full members of God’s family—whoever they are, whatever their background, wherever they are on their faith journey.

Our members come not only from Granville, but from all over the surrounding area—Newark to New Albany, Blacklick to Buckeye Lake—bringing together a rich blend of experiences, perspectives, and gifts.

We are affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), a mainline denomination in the Reformed tradition that affirms the equality of women and men in church leadership and ministry.

Founded in 1805 by the first settlers who came to Granville from Massachusetts, we’re the oldest church in the village.  Our beautiful landmark building is on the National Register of Historic Places. But there’s a lot more to our church than just stone walls and stained glass—it’s about living faith, meaningful relationships, and faithful service.

We are a warm, intergenerational community, committed to extending genuine hospitality and nurturing caring relationships.

Our worship is rooted in tradition and the rhythms of liturgy, while remaining open to new ways of encountering God and engaging our spirits.

We believe that faith formation is a lifelong journey. We seek to love God not only with our hearts, but also with our minds, encouraging thoughtful reflection, learning, and spiritual growth at every stage of life.

Guided by Christ’s call, we are deeply committed to mission. We strive to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world—serving neighbors near and far, caring for God’s creation, and advocating for justice, compassion, and peace.

We invite you to join us as we seek to grow in faith, serve with compassion, and follow Christ together. Whether you are new to church, returning after a time away, or looking for a spiritual home, you are welcome here.
